Your Sales Leadership & Performance Coach
Hi, I’m Thom Wright.
From Magician to Sales Leader
At 16, I started my first business as magician performing at corporate events. For over 15 years, I learned to read audiences, command stages, and to see what people weren't saying. That business, plus a lawn care company, paid my way through college. Those years taught me more about reading people and building trust than any sales training ever would.
I then carried that into corporate sales where I crushed quota at AT&T, UPS, then Salesforce. I’ve made President's Club over 10 times as well as Chairman's Club - top 100 globally out of 3,000 AEs.
All of that success eventually got me promoted to sales leadership at Salesforce, where I thought I had it figured out.
I was wrong.
The Year That Changed Everything
My first year as a sales leader nearly broke me.
I was doing my reps' jobs. Drowning in meetings with no time to coach. Hiring wrong. And when I had to fire someone, I realized I'd played a role in that failure.
I was working 70-hour weeks. My team was underperforming. I had no idea how to fix it.
Then someone told me about executive coaching.
I was skeptical. I didn't need some "life coach" telling me to believe in myself or journal my feelings. I definitely didn't need someone who was just going to sit there and ask me a bunch of questions without giving me real answers. I needed solutions. I needed someone to tell me what to do.
But I was desperate enough to try.
That coach didn't give me advice. She asked questions I couldn't answer. Held up a mirror. Helped me see what I was actually doing versus what I thought I was doing.
And it turned out - that's exactly what I needed.
I worked with her for eight years - through my entire journey at Salesforce and beyond. She helped me build accountability systems, stop doing my reps' jobs, and lead with confidence instead of control.
That relationship transformed my career. Even today, I work with my own coach. Because the best leaders never stop being coached.
That's why I became one.
Why I'm Different
Most sales coaches are retired sellers who hung up their quota years ago. They're teaching what worked in a world that doesn't exist anymore. Here's why my coaching is different:
I'm Still in the Game—And Winning
I'm a VP of Sales at a Fortune 1000 company, carrying quota and leading teams today. My teams consistently hit and exceed their numbers—and I'm still doing the work alongside them.
I've built teams from scratch three times. Led turnarounds. Tripled revenue while improving forecast accuracy to 93-95%. I've been recognized as a top 1% sales leader internationally across multiple companies.
I deal with the same AI disruption, pipeline pressure, and forecast scrutiny you do—every single quarter. When I coach you, I'm not pulling from memory. I'm pulling from this week.
I'm Trained to Coach, Not Just Advise
There's a massive difference between giving advice and coaching—and most "sales coaches" don't know it.
I'm certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF)—the gold standard in professional coaching. I also hold certifications in Executive Coaching and Career Coaching through the Center for Executive Coaching at University of Kansas. This training taught me how to coach people to their own solutions, not just tell them what worked for me.
That matters because your business, your team, your situation is different from mine. Cookie-cutter advice doesn't work. Real coaching does.
I've Been Doing This for 25 Years
I've been working professionally with enterprise clients and complex deals for over two decades. I've sold in multiple industries, carried bags at startups and Fortune 500 companies, and led teams through explosive growth and brutal downturns.
I'm not a generalist who dabbles in sales. I'm a sales nerd who's built a career on this craft—and I'm still obsessed with getting better at it.
I Focus on What Actually Moves the Needle
I don't do fluff. I don't do motivational speeches. I don't care about your vision board.
I focus on accountability, systems, and behavior change that drives results. We work on pipeline discipline, forecast accuracy, tough conversations, hiring decisions, and time management. The unglamorous stuff that actually makes you a better leader.
If you just want someone to tell you you're doing great, I'm not your coach. If you want someone to help you get better—let's talk.
Outside of Work
I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my wife, our teenage daughter, and a cat who runs the house. When I'm not coaching or leading, I'm enjoying Kentucky's bourbon distilleries or getting outside.
I'm also constantly reading. Right now on my desk: Dare to Lead by Brené Brown, Multipliers by Liz Wiseman, Radical Candor by Kim Scott, and How Champions Think by Dr. Bob Rotella.
I post weekly on LinkedIn about what's actually working in sales leadership right now—follow me there to stay connected.
Ready to Get Started?
If you want someone to tell you you're doing great, I'm not your coach. But if you want someone in the trenches right now who will help you build the systems and skills to lead with confidence—let's talk.
